EVENT REPORT: 4TH “NATIONAL PHARMACOVIGILANCE WEEK” CELEBRATIONS
AMC, along with the faculties of the Department of Pharmacology, Govt Medical College and ESI Hospital, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu organized various programs and celebrated 4th“National Pharmacovigilance Week” from 17th to 23rd September 2024 in a grand manner.
Following are the few pearls..


1) An Informative session on “Insight to ADR and PVG” was organized on 18th September 2024 and the target audiences were Undergraduate Medical students. Dr.K.Latha. Professor & Head, Department of Pharmacology, Govt. Medical College & ESI Hospital, Coimbatore addressed the huge gathering of students and discussed the topic in depth and it’s been well received by the students which reflected in the “END SESSION QUESTIONNARE” in which all the students Outperformed.
“ADR Sensitization and awareness Programme” commemorating 4th National Pharmacovigilance Week was organized on September 21st 2024. Nursing staff, of GMC&ESIH, who play a crucial role in monitoring drug safety within the healthcare system, were invited to this interactive The event begun with an insightful keynote lecture delivered by Dr.Abdulrahman.A, Associate Professor in Pharmacologyat Govt. Medical College & ESI Hospital, Coimbatore. His lecture focused on the critical role of Pharmacovigilance in ensuring drug safety and highlighted new perspectives on the involvement of nursing staff in drug safety monitoring. Staff nurses, who actively participated in the discussion, demonstrating their interest by raising questions and cleared their doubts and taken vow that they will show their commitment to whole community by promptly ADR to the AMC. The event concluded with a vote ofthanks, acknowledging the valuable contributions of the nursing staff.

To create awareness among the public and patients attending the GMC & ESI Hospital, A RALLY was organized on 21st September 2024 and the theme of the rallywas “Ways of Reporting ADR”. The Chief Guest of the occasion Ravikumar.T, Medical Superintendent, Govt Medical College and ESI Hospital, Coimbatore inaugurated the rally by waving the flag. IInd Year Medical students along with faculties, and staff nurses of the GMC & ESIH enthusiastically participated in the rally.Informative placards were displayed in the rally and Pamphlets were distributed to the public. Arrangements were made by Dr.D.Jeyalakshmi, Senior Assistant Professor of Pharmacology, Govt Medical College and ESI Hospital, Coimbatore.

Under the expert guidance of Prasanna Kumari.S, and Dr. Nithyapriya,Senior Assistant Professors of Pharmacology, Govt Medical College and ESI
Hospital, Coimbatore A“Poster making Competition” for the Undergraduate Medical Students was organized allowing them to express their understanding and perspectives on pharmacovigilance in healthcare. The Poster making Competition encouraged students to depict their vision of pharmacovigilance and its importance through creativevisual art. It also shared their insights on drug safety monitoring, emphasizing their experiences and the essential role they would play as “FUTURE PHYSICIANS”.
Mementos’ and certificates of appreciation were presented to the First, Second, and third prize winners of the PVG Awareness poster creation competition. A special memento and certificate of appreciation was presented to the Best E poster Creator. The enthusiastic participation and high-quality submissions reflected the involvement and keen understanding of pharmacovigilance among students.
