The Department of Forensic Medicine, spearheaded by the Professor & Police Surgeon Dr. Manoharan MD is fully strengthened as per NMC norms. It has state of the art mortuary facilities and functions throughout the year. The services provided include Medicolegal autopsies, Sexual Offences examinations and Expert Opinions on various medico-legal cases. The department also provides training programs to Practicing Doctors, Teaching faculties, Nursing Professionals, Judiciary, Police, and other Paramedical Professionals across the state regarding medicolegal matters apart from teaching the students of MBBS and other systems of Medicine from other colleges in this region. The department has conducted 1700 autopsies and around 200 sexual offenses in less than 2 years.
