We in our Department of General Surgery, GMC &ESI Hospital are performing a lot of wonderful works towards the well being of the patients as well as academic activities.

We are having 120 beds all together and working as 4 units. We are having a dedicated surgical intensive care unit, with cardiac monitors , defibrillators, central suction and central oxygen supply. A separate ward is there for burns patients.

We are having 2 state of the art imported modular operation theatres which are well equipped. We are routinely doing a large number of major cases like Thyroidectomy, Modified Radical Mastectomy, G.I surgeries etc., We are performing a humpty number of routine surgeries like hernias, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, etc., and a lot more of minor surgeries like lipoma, sebaceous cyst, torn ear lobe, corn foot, etc.,

Our laparoscopic team is a well trained one. We routinely take up lap appendicectomy, lap cholecystectomy and lap hernia repairs. We are doing Laser Hemorrhoidectomy and Sub Facial Endoscopic Perforator Surgery.

Emergency surgical procedures are carried out round the clock in emergency operation theatre.

We are doing Diagnostic Endoscopies routinely. There is also a minor operation theatre and a septic OT on our out patient department and a lot of minor surgeries are performed.

Regularly practical classes are taken in the OPD and wards and theory classes under CBME curriculum, as per NMC guidelines. Academic sessions for updating the knowledge of  CRMIs and faculties are conducted weekly.

We are having a skill lab which is well equipped and a lot of trainings like suturing techniques, Intravenous cannulations, urinary catheterization, Ryle’s tube insertion are taught for our students and residents routinely.

A full functioning Departmental Library is available to cater the needs of our Residents and Faculties.
