GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE & ESI HOSPITAL

Government Medical College and ESI hospital, Singanallur, Coimbatore is situated Kamarajar Road, 500 metre from Singanallur Bus stand, 3 KMs from Coimbatore Airport and 7 KMS from Coimbatore Railway station. The Hospital is established on 30.08.1970. It is upgraded into medical college on 02.02.2016 and inaugurated by Prime Minister of India and Handed over to Government of Tamilnadu. The Medical College Hospital has been providing dedicated care to Eight Lakhs ESI Insured patients and their family members(25 Lakhs).

The Medical College Hospital is having 510 teaching beds with 21 Departments. Daily catering 1200 Outpatients and 500 Inpatients Our hospital is provided with state of art Radiology Department with equipments Digital radiography, Multislice CT scanner, high end ultrasound and Color Doppler machines and Digital Ortho Pantomogram(OPG). The Ten imported Modular Operation Theatres are also available..

Nowwith intake of100 MBBS students (All India Quota-15 seats, ESI Quota- 20 seats, State Quota (Tamilnadu) – 65 seats)and having  yearly intake of 5 PG Seats in MD(Emergency Medicine). Apart from this Diploma in Laboratory Technician, Diploma in Radio Diagnosis and many certificate course including Theatre Technician, Emergency Care Technician, ECG Technician and Ortho Technician.

The well stocked library is situated in the college building. Classrooms are well built as per NMC norms and completely air-conditioned. There is a separate auditorium, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, Separate Gym for Male and Female, Students Co-Operative Stores, Cafeteria, ATM Machine, Outpost Police Station, Separate Hostels for Males, Girls, CRMI Male and CRMI Girls with mess facilities. All the Buildings, other infrastructure, Equipments and faculties are available as per NMC norms.

The Government Medical College & ESIC Hospital, Coimbatore was started by the Government of India and subsequently handed over to the Government of Tamilnadu for the purpose of providing comprehensive quality healthcare to ESIC beneficiaries as well as for training the medical students into well-rounded medical practitioners.

Emergency services are provided by the hospital round the clock on all days (24×7). The services are led by casualty medical officer along with the support of duty physician, duty surgeon and a full-fledged team of paramedical staff.

The GMC & ESIC Hospital is a 510 bedded tertiary set-up. It consists of medical, surgical, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics, pulmonology, dermatology, psychiatry, orthopaedics, ophthalmology and ENT wards. The hospital also runs a fully operational Intensive Medical Care Unit (IMCU), Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU), Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with a dedicated team of doctors, nurses and paramedical staffs serving around the clock to offer high-quality health care.

The hospital runs outpatient services from 7.30 am to 12 noon on all days including Sundays and government holidays. They are provided by the following departments,
